At the initiative of Senegal’s President Maître Abdoulaye Wade, the principal African Heads of State, from South Africa to Libya, have decided to handle Africa’s cultural destiny by being patrons of FESMAN 2009.
The Public Power CommitmentUnder the impetus of Senegal’s President Maître Abdoulaye Wade, and in agreement with the recommendations from the “Ministers for Black World Culture Congress,” FESMAN 2009 returns to Senegal, land of its origins. The principal Heads of State of the continent, the presidents of Nigeria, South Africa, Algeria, the King of Morocco, etc., have united to be patrons of the Festival. Thanks to the coordination of the Cultural and Foreign Affairs Ministries of the 80 countries involved, FESMAN 2009 testifies the explicit political will of African leaders to promote the renaissance of the continent and to give it back its legitimate place in the world.
An International Orientation Committee & a General CoordinationAs the main organ of direction, and a think-tank for the Festival, the International Orientation Committee is presided by Mr. Mame Birame Diouf, State Minister in charge of the organisation of FESMAN, and by Gilberto Gil, famous Brazilian composer and musician, who serves as Vice-President. → à la ligneMr. Alioune Badara Beye, president of the International Association of French Language Writers, manages the General Coordination of the FESMAN 2009. Its Secretary general is Mr. Abdoulaye Farba Diouf. The General Coordination is organized in 7 commissions. Each commission takes charge an aspect of FESMAN 2009’s organization (shows and events, exhibits, colloquia, public and press relation, etc.). World-famous personalities are presiding over these commissions. A Professional ProductionThe FESMAN 2009 Production mobilizes different teams. The members are African and European professionals whose principal missions are organization, fundraising, executive production etc.Jean-Pierre Pierre-Bloch, Associate Producer of the Fesman 2009, was the former director of a major French national daily newspaper, and deputy Mayor of Paris. He now runs Médiatique Africa, based in Dakar. Gad Weil, Director General of the Fesman 2009, is the conceiver and producer of major collective events for over twenty years and is head of the group La Fonderie d’Evénements. |
