Cultural Identity, Social Cohesion and African Renaissance
The issue of the world’s cultural identity was central to the first forms of protest made by scholars in Africa and in the Diasporas.

Today more than ever before, the necessity for Africa to assert herself and to meet the requirements of globalization is a good reason for updating this issue and for broadening the scope to the global dimension of our civilization.

The Continent should permanently fight for the preservation of its own identity and the affirmation of the genius of its multi-faceted civilization within a global society. This fight will be fundamentally cultural and collective for a renewal of the values of our plural civilization. The aim is to « give back to the black people its own authority and cultural initiatives », as Alioune DIOP once put it.

Undoubtedly, the only sound condition that can help reach this goal is the revival of a common awareness and a desire for solidarity among all the peoples of Africa and the Diasporas that would be the best mould to achieve social cohesion.
