Brazil, the country with the second largest black population, will ignite the excitement of Fesman owing to a delegation of 300 artists.
Before welcoming a next edition of the World Festival of Black Arts, Brazil is going to make its mark on Fesman 2009. To be successful, the country can count on a rich, diverse and captivating culture, a daughter of mixed heritage and the sun. Thus, a delegation of 300 artists are ready to arrive in Senegal from the 1st to the 14th of December 2009 to present not only its new dance or musical talent - disciplines that have gained international recognition for Brazil – but also writers, artistic painters, filmmakers or fashion designers. The multicentennial historical and cultural bond between Africa and Brazil have been privileged for several years by the Lula Government: The numerous presidential trips in Africa, teachings in the educational institutions about African-Brazilian history or even the creation of a National Day for the fight against religious intolerance designed to promote African cultures that bears witness to the strong will to offer recognition to the black community. Hence, Fesman 2009 is a new occasion for black artists or artists of mixed heritage to demonstrate their creativity and their know-how. Fesman 2009 launched in Brasil
