From today, you can visit the official FESMAN website on www.fesman2009.com and www.fesman2010.com.
The FESMAN Executive Production team awaits the appointment of an expert by the regional court of Dakar. The expert’s mission is to assess FESMAN 2009 entire preparatory work.  This basis will enable the State of Senegal and the Executive Production to consider the ultimate form as well as the retained actors for the 3rd edition of the World Festival of Black Arts.
The entire set of the expert documents will be published on the website once the report of experts has been carried through.
 
« Bondoeng culturel » à la Sorbonne
congrs_1956Le Premier congrès international des écrivains et artistes noirs s’inscrit dans l’histoire politique et culturelle du 20e siècle comme « le premier grand rendez-vous culturel international qui pose l'affirmation des identités singulières de chaque peuple comme la condition indispensable à toute décolonisation véritable ». Aujourd’hui, 53 ans après l’organisation de ce grand événement, c’est la troisième édition du FESMAN qui porte le flambeau du continent africain.

FESMAN, a postponed involvement
Following the President of the Republic of Senegal's decision, the third edition of the World Festival of Black Arts, initially scheduled from 1st to 14th December 2009 is postponed to December 2010.

The Executive Production in charge of the FESMAN 2009 organisation, in light of the work done by the whole professional and international teams for the third World Festival of Black Arts to take place on the African ground, wishes to confirm to the actors and the public involved its volition to preserve everyone's investment.

FESMAN is today the impulse, the flow that mobilises and federates a great number of protagonists from the artistic and scientific world around the globe whose talent will keep on expressing itself.
 
Senghor's Africa
The champion of African dignity and of the dialogue between civilisations, a master of poetry, a statesman for Senegal, a visionary for Africa, a friend for France, the universal Ambassador of the black African culture, the universal guide of francophonie…These different qualifications granted to Leopold Sédar Senghor (1906-2001) by eminent political personalities such as Kofi Annan or Jacques Chirac are not enough to describe him. The first President-poet of Independent Senegal (1960-1980) but also the first African who was granted a seat in the Académie Française and the initiator of the World festival of Black Arts -FESMAN-, this exceptional man, in his long background of 95 years, did not only change the destiny of his country but also that of Africa.
